Princess Kate plays an important role as part of the Royal Family, but she also has a vital job as part of her family unit.

The mum-of-three is tasked with shaping the next generation of royals as she brings up Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte with husband Prince William. While life may be busy for the royals, it is thought they will have likely had some downtime over the school holidays this Christmas.

And when they do, the Mirror reports, the family spend it at their country retreat of Anmer Hall in Norfolk. The property is close to the Sandringham estate and gives them chance to enjoy outdoor pursuits such as bike rides.

Keen for the children to have a “normal” upbringing, Kate reportedly takes the children to birthday parties in the area. According to PEOPLE, Kate has surprised her Norfolk neighbours by remembering all the names of their children.

Kate and William are said to be keen to support 10-year-old George at football matches while they watch eight-year-old Charlotte playing hockey. A friend told People: “She is very good at setting boundaries, which helps keep everything running smoothly. But the family is the priority, always.”

A royal expert has meanwhile warned William will be “angry” and “guilty” over the recent attacks on Kate after he made a “special promise” to her parents. The controversial royal book Endgame painted an unflattering picture of Kate, describing her as a royal who works “part-time” and has earned herself the nickname “Katie Keen” because the palace press office hides her reportedly lower workload by saying she is “keen to learn”.

It also said the princess is “cold” and claimed she ignored “cries for help” from Meghan Markle. And, despite the couple riding out any backlash, expert Jennie Bond says William won’t be happy.

The former BBC royal correspondent told OK!: “William feels guilty and angry because he promised Kate’s parents that he would protect and look after her. The attacks from Omid Scobie were vicious, so William will feel guilty because all she’s done is fall in love with someone who happened to be a future king.

“There’s a lot of baggage that comes with this – it’s a unique and different life which you’ve got to have a very thick skin for.”

However, Jennie believes Kate has shown she is resilient and is drawing on her experience of royal life. She added: “She said: “Kate has demonstrated that she’s the real deal and William constantly shows that he’s hugely proud of her. Kate’s strength is drawn from the fact that she was given such a long apprenticeship – those nine or ten years that she was allowed to see a little bit of what life would be like in the royal court were completely invaluable.”
