Meghan Markle has made a ‘smart move’ to stay in the spotlight and dodge bad press. She’s back acting in an Instagram ad for a company she’s put money into.

In the video, Meghan is seen being busy at work, sharing coffee, chatting on the phone, and working on a computer. People on social media have mixed feelings about her return, but some are really happy to see her again after her time on the TV show Suits.

Someone said: “A+ marketing from #clevrblends Love to see Meg having fun in front of the camera again. I’ve missed her on my screen.”

Another person mentioned: “She was the brand’s first investor and she is sticking with them… That’s how loyal #MeghanMarkle is. Love to see her smile btw.”

PR pro Laura Perkes analysed Meghan’s return to acting and told the Daily Mirror it’s a bit “self-indulgent” but it does help keep her in the news.

This gives her more clout when making new deals.

Laura said: “Having received so much negative press this year, not least from the fallout of Omid Scobie’s book and the Sussexes choosing to stay silent, Harry and Meghan will know how important it is to put positive news stories in the public domain and attempt to rebuild their reputation.”

“If they’re stripped of their Royal titles they’ll need to work quickly to tie in brand collaborations, otherwise their celebrity appeal will diminish and offers for work will disappear,” Laura said. “The fact that Meghan is appearing in an advert for a brand that she’s invested in feels a little self-indulgent.”

“However, it does show that she’s invested in the success of the brand and the brand will know that being aligned with the ex-Princess will create the kind of hype that start-up businesses simply cannot create on their own, without spending hundreds of thousands on a celebrity ambassador,” she added.

“Despite the fact that Meghan courts a lot of negative publicity, it keeps her relevant, it keeps people talking about them and does still give her power when it comes to arranging brand deals,” Laura finished. “It’s a smart move to make and will turn the tides on their run of negative press, showing that she’s moving on and focussing on a positive future, away from the bombshells that have been dropped in recent months.”
