King Charles has broken his silence after his cancer diagnosis with a heartfelt letter to the British public.

The UK monarch has penned the touching letter that thanks people for the “many messages of support and good wishes” he has received in recent days.

King Charles is a keen letter writer and his emotive words will strike a chord with those who have also suffered with cancer.

In the letter, which was shared this evening on the Royal Family’s website and on social media site X – formerly known as Twitter – King Charles writes: “I would like to express my most heartfelt thanks for the many messages of support and good wishes I have received in recent days.

“As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement.

“It is equally heartening to hear how sharing my own diagnosis has helped promote public understanding and shine a light on the work of all those organisations which support cancer patients and their families across the UK and wider world.

“My lifelong admiration for their tireless care and dedication is all the greater as a result of my own personal experience.”

It’s been a dramatic week for the Royal Family after the Palace shared news of the King’s cancer diagnosis on Monday at 6pm.

They did not reveal what kind of cancer the King has but did clarify that it was not prostate cancer.

However, his aides did say that the cancer was picked up following tests as a result of his enlarged prostate that he was undergoing treatment for.

News of the King’s health challenge has made headlines across the globe and millions have sent him their love, thoughts, prayers and best wishes.

His son Prince Harry jetted back from his home in California to see his dad – but it was only a short visit, reportedly lasting just 30 minutes.

The King’s health means that he will not be able to attend all the appointments in his diary – although he is insisting that he will carry on with much of his paperwork, such as reading his red boxes and hosting his weekly audiences with the Prime Minister.
